Ahmad's Story

As a diligent teenager, Ahmad had been one who called his friends to prayers and the observance of Ramadan every year. When he heard a Canadian businessman share about Jesus at a friend’s house, he was intrigued. Over several months the businessman discipled him in God’s Word and prayed with him. One day while praying alone, Ahmad experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced by a strange language. He was baptised in water shortly thereafter and is a passionate witness for Christ.

He was determined to tell others of the good news, baptising school-mates who also confessed Christ despite encountering trouble for doing so. Ahmad met Fasha and the two eventually married. In the days leading up to their wedding ceremony, Fasha’s brother and Ahmad’s sister experienced Christ and the two siblings were baptized on their wedding day, with many people watching from the ocean shore.

Ahmad travels to villages to transport local produce to market. On one occasion he was confronted by some village men as he arrived: “We have heard you have become a follower of Jesus!” When Ahmad openly confessed that this was true, one member of the group asked, “Will you tell us what that means?”

Ahmad shared with the group the stories of Old Testament characters that Muslims believe to be prophets, and concluded with the greatest story of all. Dozens who had gathered to listen asked the village mosque Imam if the stories he told were true. The Imam responded, “Yes, they are true.” As the men and women dispersed from the conversation, Ahmad loaded his truck and went on his way.

Three weeks later, Ahmad returned to the village and several of the men approached him. The spokesman for the group confessed: “When you were here last time you told us many important stories of the prophets, and the most important one of all, the story of Nabi Isa—Jesus, the teacher. We have been talking about Him and we now realize that we cannot be Muslim anymore. Will you teach us to follow Jesus as you do?”

Ahmad continues to share what it means to be a follower of Jesus through his business - just as he saw demonstrated by the Canadian global worker he met.

Over 100 men and women are followers of Christ because of his witness and the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
