“I can now see the value and beauty of God’s hand at work each step of the way...”

The New Testament starts off with the genealogy of Jesus, offering the names of individuals woven together throughout history in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. I can now see the value and beauty of God’s hand at work each step of the way but, as a young girl, I must confess I often skipped over these verses.

I was part of a discussion group recently in which the facilitator asked us to introduce ourselves by stating our first, middle, and last names, along with both of our parents’ full names and place of birth. It was the first time I had ever made such an introduction. The experience was incredibly moving. Indigenous communities, along with many other cultures, have always honoured their heritage and expressed their lineage in beautiful ways.

As we prepared this issue of our 100 Years of Mission, it became increasingly evident that our history at the PAOC Missions is broad. It is full of some amazing life stories of women and men who forged the path we find ourselves walking today. The stories are marked with adversity, trials, joy-filled moments and the commitment to go wherever God was leading. We have a rich history to be proud of.

In the following pages we share the names of some of our global workers, realizing that we are only scratching the surface of the thousands of people who have made a difference for eternity. We honour all these individuals, the stories told and untold, dedicating this issue to everyone who has served with us.

As you read through these pages may you be encouraged by those that have gone before you. And, may you be reminded of God’s faithfulness and that His plans have purpose.
